The Swiss Altitude Effect — Red Wines of Precision and Place

A professional tasting dedicated to Switzerland’s red wines — exploring altitude, balance, and the new face of cool-climate.

Add to calendar:

Switzerland’s reds are a study in restraint, purity, and precision.

Shaped by steep slopes, diverse soils, and cool alpine air, these wines redefine what balance and elegance can mean in Pinot Noir and Merlot.

This sommelier-exclusive session focuses on Switzerland’s leading red regionsGraubünden, Valais, Lake of Biel, and Ticino — where altitude, orientation, and craftsmanship give rise to wines of remarkable depth and finesse.

You’ll taste seven benchmark red wines, each representing a different expression of cool-climate winemaking:

the fine-boned Pinots of Graubünden, the structured yet graceful Pinots of Valais, and the supple, oak-aged Merlots from Ticino.

Each pour will be paired with a Swiss speciality snack, chosen to highlight tannin texture, acidity interplay, and food pairing potential — designed for sommeliers who think in pairings as much as in palate.

This tasting builds regional understanding, sensory precision, and pairing intuition — a must-attend for India’s sommeliers, wine directors, and educators who want to expand beyond Burgundy and discover the quiet mastery of Swiss reds.
